The new English Garden Amphitheater has been located in the northern part of the English Garden since 1985. The seating area of the theater is semi-circular and arranged around the stage like a staircase.<\/p>\r\n

The M\u00fcnchner Sommertheater is an independent troupe of young actors and musicians led by Ulrike Dissmann
They have dedicated themselves to classic comedy since 1990.<\/p>\r\n

In the early years, it was still an insider tip for a few hundred connoisseurs. It has since become a highlight of the Munich Summer of Culture, attracting many thousands of people every year.<\/p>\r\n

The standard venue of the Munich Summer Theater is the Amphitheater in the English Garden. It requires a special kind of theater: The simple technical possibilities of the venue force you to focus on the essentials.
The special closeness to the actors means that the audience virtually becomes co-actors.<\/p>\r\n

Der Bl\u00fctenring Verein e.V.<\/h3>\r\n

The original amphitheater in the English Garden existed from 1793 to 1807. It was built north of the Chinese Tower and south of Kleinhesseloher See, near today’s bridge to K\u00f6nigin- and Martius-Stra\u00dfe.<\/p>\r\n

The Bl\u00fctenring Association had been planning the reconstruction of the amphitheater since the early 1980s. The old location was no longer an option due to a tree population worthy of protection. A traffic circle was found to be the ideal location in the Hirschau, the current site of the amphitheater (between Aumeister and Kleinhesseloher See).<\/p>\r\n

The open-air theater, located on the edge of the Siebenbuchenwiese, is not only used for theater performances and church services, but also serves as a location for children’s birthday parties or picnics. But make sure that your parties don’t coincide with official dates.<\/p>\r\n

Amphitheater Englischer Garten – the program of the open-air stage<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The performances take place in summer, usually on Thursday and Saturday evenings, after dusk. The city’s events calendar will inform you about the exact schedule. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to bring something to eat and drink. In the event of rain, the performance is usually moved to the Mohr Villa. Dramas, classic comedies and tragedies are shown. Tip: It makes sense to put a blanket or cushion underneath the event, otherwise you will get a wet bottom from the damp grass.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Amphitheater Englischer Garten – how to get there:<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The amphitheater is located approximately at the level of the weir in the northern part of the English Garden. You can reach it on foot or by bike. It is located roughly between the weir and Crailsheimstra\u00dfe. The best way to get to “Alte Heide” from the west is to take the U6 and then walk. Alternatively, you can cycle or take the 187 bus east of the Englischer Garten to R\u00fcmelinstra\u00dfe and then walk again.<\/p>\r\n

Zur Geschichte:<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The English Garden Amphitheater was located near the Chinese Tower from 1793 to 1807. This location was no longer an option for nature conservation reasons. The amateur dramatics group Bl\u00fctenring e.V., under the direction of Pankraz Freiherr von Freyberg, worked hard to rebuild the theater. With success.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In 1983, the Siebenbuchenwiese in the northern part of the English Garden was chosen as the new site. The area was surrounded by bushes and trees on one side, providing the perfect backdrop. The new building was rebuilt according to the plans of the old theater. The people of Munich voted in favor of the construction in a survey and more than 200 donors contributed to the costs.
Incidentally, the show kicked off with a satire of Lohengrin based on Nestroy.<\/p>\r\n
