The Goldene Bar M\u00fcnchen in the English Garden is located directly at the back of the Haus der Kunst. It’s a really cool bar, steeped in history, which revives the flair of old lounges and combines it with new facets of design. It is also the caf\u00e9 of the Haus der Kunst.<\/p>\n

The Golden Bar in the English Garden<\/h2>\n

The combination of the golden walls with the dark furniture and the subtle lighting creates a unique atmosphere and the very high ceiling adds to this. The bar got its name from the murals by Karl Heinz Dallinger. Painted on gold leaf and based on maps, these show the origins of the spirits on offer at the time from all over the world, as well as tobacco merchants and sugar cane transports.<\/p>\n

The frescoes of the Goldene Bar M\u00fcnchen were painted over after the war and uncovered again at the beginning of 2000. They have been preserved in their original form. “This painting stood for cosmopolitanism, an important factor for the National Socialist landlords, who, for example, presented themselves internationally at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin and the 1937 Paris World’s Fair,” it says on the website of the “Haus der Kunst”.<\/p>\n

It’s super nice to sit on the terrace in summer and look out over the greenery of the English Garden. The audience is a nice mix and the atmosphere is very relaxed and laid-back. The drinks on the menu are all created in-house. You should have been there before.<\/p>\n

The story:<\/h4>\n

When the Haus der Kunst opened in 1937, the Golden Bar adjoined the restaurant with terrace. Together with the former Bierst\u00fcberl, today’s P1, the cellar offered the kind of gastronomy that was only known from luxury establishments at the time.<\/p>\n
