From April to October, Japanese tea ceremonies take place or are taught here. If you watch such an event and get involved, you will either find inner peace or become so jittery from the slowness that you can’t stand it any longer – try it out for yourself (bus line 100 K\u00f6niginstra\u00dfe or U5\/U3\/U6 Odeonsplatz and on foot).<\/p>\n

Urasenke tea school with the Japanese tea ceremony Munich<\/h3>\n

The tea house is run by an association of the Urasenke tea school in Kyoto. It consists of both German and Japanese members. The association, which maintains the teahouse and endeavors to make the tea trail accessible to a wider public, has existed since 1972. During the Japan Festival, the tea house is open all the time and you can take part in a tea ceremony.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the dates will be held. Please check the website of the Japanese Tea House<\/a> again at short notice!<\/p>\n

The demonstration lasts one hour. A small sweet and a bowl of tea are included in the contribution towards expenses.<\/p>\n

For groups of 8 to max. 12 For organizational reasons, the crew of the Japanese Teahouse would like to ask you to make an appointment in advance, as the limited capacity (max. 25 people) should allow as many visitors as possible to participate on the respective day. A reservation is not possible under any circumstances. Special dates can be arranged for larger groups.<\/p>\n

Japanese teahouse history:<\/h4>\n

The teahouse was built in 1972 on the occasion of the Olympic Games in Munich. It was donated by the Urasenke tea school in Kyoto. The tea school would like to interest the German population in the tea path and make it better known in Germany.<\/p>\n

The Japan Festival<\/a><\/h3>\n

The annual Japan Festival<\/a> takes place at this teahouse behind the Haus der Kunst – usually in July. During the Japan Festival, the Japanese Tea House is open all day and there are special performances (tickets can be purchased directly on site about 30 minutes before the start of the festival).<\/p>\n
