Monopteros meadow or Mono meadow – the sunbathing lawn for partying, relaxing, hanging out<\/h2>\n

The most frequently used lawns are the three large meadows in the southern part of the English Garden by the Schwabing stream: one begins at Kleinhesseloher See to the south and ends at the road where the bus crosses the garden. The other two meadows are the one at the Monopteros and the sunbathing lawn opposite. They stretch from the Monopteros to the Eisbach.<\/p>\n

The sports field<\/h3>\n

The large meadow at Kleinhesseloher See is popular for sports of all kinds. You’ll come across soccer players, handball players with nets, Thai Chi groups, badminton players, yoga groups and open-air fitness groups, as well as children’s birthday parties and picnics. Incidentally, the city of Munich offers a permanent, open, free sports program here in summer, which is very popular.<\/p>\n

The bathing and celebration meadow at Schwabinger Bach invites you to relax.<\/h3>\n

The meadow by the Eis- or Schwabinger Bach is packed in summer and serves as a meeting place, swimming and party area for Munich’s youth. Among young people, the location is also known as the Monowiese. There’s always something going on here – from spontaneous live guitar concerts to African drumming and ghetto blasters.<\/p>\n

People like to party, laugh and drink in the evenings. The atmosphere here is great and not annoying despite the music. If you want to experience something and be inspired by the flair of the city, you’ve come to the right place. By the way, swimming in the Schwabinger Bach is only tolerated. And watch out for broken glass, as there is no shortage of it here.<\/p>\n

Nudism in the English Garden<\/h3>\n

King Ludwig would certainly never have thought it conceivable that this area of the garden would be used for nudism. At the beginning of the 60s, it was considered scandalous for hippies to let their clothes down here. Today, almost nobody notices. On the one hand, there are actually far fewer followers now, and on the other, most people simply ignore it.<\/p>\n

At the southern end of the meadow there is a sun lounger hire shop a little way off. For all those who no longer want to just sit on the floor and prefer a comfortable chair, the “M\u00fcnchner Sonnendiebe” is the first port of call. Sunbathing lawns in the northern part of the English Garden<\/h3>\n

The northern part of the English Garden is much more tranquil. You can still find idyllic spots here in a secluded location, without neighbors – but you’ll have to put up with a short walk. It starts opposite the Hirschauer Biergarten, in the direction of the Isar, and at the end of Gy\u00dflingstra\u00dfe, where the large training meadow for horses is located. The further north you go, the fewer people there are, the emptier the meadows become and you have a free choice of seats.<\/p>\n
