Background to the Munich City RunRUN Munich

The city run series organized by SportScheck and BMW was launched in 1979 with the first city run in Munich – now around 100,000 participants take part in what has become the largest running series in German cities.

Over distances of 5 km, 10 km and the 21 km half marathon, amateur and competitive athletes either try to run their best time or at least somehow reach the finish line. In every city there are also free DAK children’s runs over short distances of up to 2 km.

The city runs are supported by various sponsors and celebrity ambassadors – such as the 800-meter Olympic running champion Nils Schumann and the former German half-marathon champion Ingalena Heuck.
