The Munich city run, which focuses on a family atmosphere and fun, is organized by Sport Scheck and has been held since 1979. The running route leads from Ludwigstraße directly into the English Garden.

Date: Sunday 05.07.2026

Starting grid: Siegestor – Ludwigstrasse (near the university)

The start times would be:

  • 08:00 am Half marathon
  • 08:20 a.m. DAK Kid-Run 2 km
  • 11:00 a.m. 10 km route
  • 12:45 5 km route

Start and finish is at the Siegestor (Ludwigstrasse)

Fun factor for all non-athletes: The Stadtlauf München course is lined left and right with spectators and relatives cheering on and applauding the running pack – great fun for everyone.

Almost 20,000 runners are expected to take part

Traditionally in June (this year on July 5, 2026) the big city run of Sport Scheck takes place again. There is something for all fitness levels and for young and old – everyone gets their money’s worth. The various runs start at Ludwigstraße and shortly afterwards move on to Munich’s English Garden. The destination is again Ludwigstraße.

The city run series organized by SportScheck and BMW was launched in 1979 with the first city run in Munich – now around 100,000 participants take part in what has become the largest running series in German cities.

Over distances of 5 km, 10 km and the 21 km half marathon, amateur and competitive athletes either try to run their best time or at least somehow reach the finish line. In every city there are also free DAK children’s runs over short distances of up to 2 km.

The city runs are supported by various sponsors and celebrity ambassadors – such as the 800-meter Olympic running champion Nils Schumann and the former German half-marathon champion Ingalena Heuck.
