Let’s celebrate—but please, no trash!

Trash in the English Garden: The atmosphere along the Eisbach and on the meadows by the Schwabinger Bach is something truly special on warm summer evenings. People gather for picnics, enjoy the music, watch the surfers, and spend unforgettable hours together.

Unfortunately, though, the next morning often presents a different picture: In some places, the meadows look like they’ve just hosted a huge festival. Packaging, bottles, and other trash are scattered everywhere. Although the City of Munich works hard in the early morning hours to make sure everything is clean again, it would be nicer if that weren’t necessary in the first place.

That’s why we ask that you simply take your trash with you or dispose of it in the provided trash cans. If the trash cans happen to be full, please place your trash neatly next to them so it can be collected more easily and doesn’t end up on the meadows or in the stream.

The number of cigarette butts is also a problem.

The solution: The “Kippomat” at the Milchhäusl is a giant, interactive ashtray that was installed there to make it easier to dispose of cigarette butts in the English Garden and to prevent litter from accumulating.

With a small contribution, everyone can help keep this special place clean so that future visitors can also enjoy its unique atmosphere. Together, we can ensure that the Eisbach and the English Garden remain as beautiful as we all love them to be.
