There are currently a total of seven hotspots for “free WLAN” at three locations in the English Garden.

The locations of the hotspots would be:

The Free State of Bavaria had set itself the goal of having a dense network of 20,000 free BayernWLAN hotspots by the end of 2020.

BayernWLAN is available around the clock and is also state-of-the-art in terms of security – not only thanks to an up-to-date youth protection filter.

How does the free Bavarian WLAN work?

Access to the free BayernWLAN is easy and practical for users: every hotspot (or SSID) is “@BayernWLAN“. No registration, passwords or login details are required.

Free WLAN Munich – more hotspots around the English Garden

Not directly in the English Garden, but there are other free Internet access points at Münchner Freiheit, Odeonsplatz and Thierschplatz in Lehel, among others.

On behalf of the City of Munich and with the support of its partner M-net, Stadtwerke München is constantly expanding the free public offer of freely available M-WLAN.
The city of Munich has further expanded its free M-WLAN hotspot locations. Anyone wishing to connect to the wireless network simply has to accept the terms of use.
This works free of charge and without registration.

How does dial-in work?

There are two types of access. One access with encryption and one access without encryption.

M-WLAN Free WiFi (standard access)

Activate W-LAN and select the “M-WLAN Free WiFi” network
Automatically calling up the terms of use in the browser
Click and agree to the terms of use

M-WLAN Secure Wi-Fi (encrypted connection)

Activate W-LAN and select the “M-WLAN Free WiFi” network
Automatic opening of the browser, selection of the “Secure Wi-Fi” tab
Registration and acceptance of the terms of use (PDF)
Receipt of access data by e-mail
Selection of the “M-WLAN Secure Wi-Fi” network, connection using the login data received.
