The English Garden with its many playgrounds and great open meadows for running around is a paradise for children and parents. Here you will find a complete overview of the English Garden playgrounds and the beer garden playgrounds.
Perfect for families and children – the English Garden
Where else in the city can you walk so freely without having to watch out for cars, cyclists and other traffic? There are lots of playgrounds in the English Garden. You can’t do that in one day:
English Garden playgrounds in the southern part of the English Garden
- Playground at the Milchhäusl – well frequented if you need friends to play with and practical for parents who can watch from the Milchhäusl kiosk (toilets right next door)
- Playground at Hirschanger between the large Eisbachwelle München and the sports facility near Lerchenfeldstraße (near Fräulein Grüneis kiosk)
- Popular beer garden playground at the Chinese Tower, with nostalgia carousel and directly at the beer garden at the Chinese Tower.
- Playground directly behind the Rumfordschlösserl – not far from the Chinese Tower, a bit hidden and quiet, but very idyllic
- Children’s playground at the Gunezrainer bridge (near the Fräulein Müller kiosk). Between Kleinhesseloher See directly on the Werneckwiese.
- English Garden playground at Petersbergl (at the Seinsheimwiese)
- Playground right next to the Seehaus beer garden – parents sit particularly close here, making it a little easier to keep an eye on the little ones
- Playground south of Kleinhesseloher See. This playground is in a particularly beautiful location. It is overgrown with trees, fenced in and not quite so visible and is perfect for smaller children (nearby: kiosk at the lake inlet)
The playgrounds in the northern part:
- Hirschau beer garden playground with a children’s paradise and a beautiful pirate ship. On the Hirschau website there is a picture gallery to see what playing options are available.
- Playground on the Isar Island near the St. Emerams Bridge. A particularly beautiful, large playground with a pond
- Playground at the Aumeister beer garden, here too there are some tables for parents very close by so that you can easily keep an eye on them
- Playground at the entrance to Crailsheimerstraße and Rohmederstr. South, fenced and well suited for smaller children
Summer tip: swimming with children
The Schwabing Bay in the northern part of the English Garden is not deep and is a great place to swim with the children.
The so-called Schwabing Bay is located in the northern part of the English Garden. There is a small sandy beach there and it’s great for swimming with the children. The water is also quite shallow. This is the best way to find Schwabinger Bucht.
Another beautiful spot is directly behind the Hirschau beer garden.
Free play in the fresh air:
In addition to the playgrounds, the English Garden also offers plenty of other activities in the fresh air. Start running and feel free! The Isar in the northern section is also a great place to play – but this should only be done under supervision, so that no one falls into the water!
