The English Garden in Munich has a lot to offer Nature and sights, attractions and special highlights make the English Garden attractive for locals and visitors alike.

There is plenty to see on a walk through the beautiful greenery of the extensive grounds.

The Monopteros in the southern part of the English Garden is one of the most popular sights. It stands on a small hill and offers the most beautiful view across the meadows into the lush greenery.

The Haus der Kunst presents an interdisciplinary program with contemporary artistic contributions. But a look at the neoclassical building, which is steeped in history, is also very interesting.

Behind the Haus der Kunst lies the idyllic Japanese teahouse Kanshoan on a small island in the Eisbach. Traditional tea ceremonies are performed. Those with a little patience will certainly get their money’s worth here.

Eisbachwelle – world-famous attraction in Munich

An incomparable attraction is the Eisbachwelle, which makes surfing in the city possible even in winter. In summer, it is the number one tourist attraction, with the Eisbach surfers plunging into the roaring waters and captivating the crowds with their skills as they watch.

Less well known is the little Eisbach wave E2. It is only a few minutes away from the big wave and is a paradise for beginners.

The China Tower or Chinese Tower, as the locals call it, is not only the beautiful landmark of the English Garden.

Directly on site is also the very popular beer garden with brass band music, beer and snacks.

The Rumfordschloessl ghe building just around the corner has been used as an officers’ mess since 1791. Today it is a nature and cultural venue.

The Kleinhesseloher See is a wonderful place to go for a walk and take a short trip on a pedal boat or rowing boat. When the lake is frozen over in winter, ice hockey, ice skating and curling take place.

If you are thirsty, you can stop off at the Seehaus or in the beer garden and let your gaze wander over the lake.

The dam in the northern part of the English Garden was built between 1918 and 1924. It offers a magnificent view of the Isar in both directions.

It’s a wonderful place to go for a walk without being surrounded by crowds of tourists.

The northern part of the English Garden is perfect for anyone looking for some peace and seclusion. The further north you go, the less busy it gets. Here you can even find a relatively secluded spot to relax.
The amphitheater has also been located in the northern section since 1985. The semicircular seating area is arranged around the stage like a staircase. Anyone who feels like it can recite Shakespeare here…

If you can make it all the way north, you might want to take the opportunity at the Aumeister to take a break.
